Waiting, Waiting...

It seems like, from the moment you decide "this is it, the one I am going to build", you are forever waiting for something. Wait for a new sales quote, wait for PD to contact us, wait for the soil test results, wait for National Tiles, wait for Tender, wait for Hopetoun, wait for electricals, wait for contract. It's as frustrating as hell, till I want to yell "FFS finish something".

We are waiting for hopetoun and the electrical appointment on the 8th then contract on the 9th. We are waiting for land settlement, we are waiting for the results of the garage footing probes.
When these are done, we'll be waiting for a site cut and then a slab, frame, lockup fixings and hand over.

Half of me wants it finished yesterday, the other half says if it was finished yesterday it would be thrown together so quickly that it would come down tomorrow!! Hmmm.... maybe this is sending me schizophrenic.

In the meantime, while I have been waiting, I have been trying to make sure that I have thought of everything, so when we get to contract it will all be there and we can sign and be done. I put up a list of the things we changed/added and I left out most of the promo stuff and I am fairly sure after reading every blog I could find that I cannot think of anything else. But I am sure there will be something...
Did anyone else really want to add something later on that they wished they'd thought of before?

Surely you jest! You have thought of absolutely everything..even the kitchen sink!! You have got some awesome ideas there..and yes, after reading your list of inclusions now I am thinking ' gee, I wish I had...', but it is too late for us now. It may not be very water wise of me but I love a good soak in the bath and really wish that I knew that a spa in the ensuite was a possibility! Damn! Oh well, at least now, thanks to you, I am getting CB gutters/downpipes etc at the respectable price of $1800! Yay! Thanks so much and stop stressing about the inclusions - they are fab, now concentrate on those kitchen colours before next Wednesday!!

Hey K&T, one thing that I found out by asking questions is that if you are having the Blanco upright as part of the promo, you can choose either to have a fish burner or a Wok burner. The standard is fish, but you can ask them to give you the wok burner model instead. I am allergic to fish, so I never cook it, but we eat stir fries! Let me know if you want more info. Just thought you might not know about this. Sorry if it is useless LOL!
Cheers

hey BelleBeau,

What about extending the height of your WIR, and putting in an extra railing in the middle?

We had issues with our WIR, and our CSR told us she would extend the height up (i think its standard at 1600mm, but she extended to 1800mm) and then she added a railing in the middle; so that we could have twe racks of clothes in our WIR...

i never would have thought about it, but glad our CSR did...

not sure if thats something u mite want? a girl can never have too much space for clothes! hehe

Wow!!
Sounds like a great option to me! We went for a Blanco 900mm semi commercial oven and cooktop...is that the one? If it is I will be straight on to CSC b4 she knocks off for the weekend! Gee, you're full of good ideas aren't you!
Thanks ( again!)
Kristen.

Looks like you've thought of everything!
Did you say you are having an undermounted sink???? I asked about that and was told a definite "NO"!!!!!!!! I'll be so furious - another thing I thought of but they wouldn't do (I wanted 100mm QQ bench tops and they said no, now they'll do it ..grrr...)

The only thing we would have done would be add nother window on our blind side, but it looks like you've gone over all the details very thoroughly and some things you don't know 100% unil it's built (like that one for us) !

Thanks Newbies, we have asked them not to fit out any of the wardrobes. We are (read DH is) putting in an elfa system after handover into all the robes. That way I can have shelves/hanging for my height 5ft 4' and he can have shelves/hanging for his (6ft 5'), and I cna have built in shoe racks!! I cannot reach the back of the shelves in our current WIR.

Kristen, yes that is it, the one in the promo. We googled it and could not find it, queried it and the wrong code is in the flyer it should be BFS95 NOT BSF95 like it says on their sheet. We went for the BFS95W (wok burner).

Petal, I think I night have gotten away with it. They said I could have any sink as long as it was a blanco, so I just gave them the code for the underbench sink I wanted. The "swap over price" from standard was only $100 less than retail for the underbench so I am paying for it. All the hopetoun people keep telling me I cannot have an underbench mount, but it is in the tender I signed, so I am just keeping quiet Shhhh...

Thanks for taking the time to read and give me feedback everyone.

Guys,
know the feelings you are having especially about waiting and lists. We sat down and developed our own list as we got so frustrated with the change is listings from PD. It actually worked really well for us. we did it in Excel and it became our bible to make sure we covered and costed everything.

I really can't help with the waiting other than to say that if you can get through the admin stage (our SC told us that) the other side is very enjoyable.

Hi J&S, Thanks for the tip about the fish burner Vs the wok burner. I have since been able to change it to the wok burner with two weeks to spare!

ummmm no.....I don't think so. Like you I had a list and checked everything off. Because our plans took awhile to be correct we were able to make a few more variations ie feature walls etc

Sounds like you have it all under control!

just want to add something about the Blanco and choice of burners. Did you know that by keeping the fish burner you can actually use a BBQ plate that Blanco sell it sit on top of it? Doesn't have to be just for fish.

Not that I'd use it, rather get the outdoor BBQ lit up.

Thanks H2B, had no idea you could do that. We'd be the same though, just fire up the barbie.
Hope you had a great holiday :-)

Yep holiday was great, thanks :-) Woke up on Sunday with a horrible flu but seeing my house today picked me up a bit!

Re the accessories for Blanco. If you look on their website and look up the oven there is a tab which you can click on and it gives you the codes etc for accessories. I saw it all at Harvey Norman :-)

I thought the oven had both a wok and a fish burner??

Hi Chris, the code says whether it is a Fish burner -BFS95F or a Wok burner - BFS95W
