Tie a pink ribbon round....

Whoo Hoo!!!! Land settled today and everything is now ticked off at the PD 24/7 website except the dispensation for the set back. Once we have that we can start to rock and roll.

Our re-establishment survey has been done. We have gorgeous pink ribbons at the edges of our block marking the pegs for the boundaries. So, bring it on!
Also, lawyers have confirmed $3k back off the stamp duty!!!, so I will have to mark 30 August 2009 in the diary to make sure I put the paperwork into before the 12 months are up. Will certainly come in handy when we move in.

Congratulations on your land settlement! Very exciting!! Hope the ball starts rolling soon for construction.

Have you mentioned the setback problem?

Enjoy the tap, loo and rubbish cage hehehe

Don't know about the others, but I would rate that pink ribbon as a milestone.

Congratulations on the arrival of your pink ribbon!! You must be so pleased! Are you applying to be closer to the footpath?? Any word on a site start yet? Yay to you for your 3k windfall, will come in very handy indeed!

Hi all and thanks for the well wishes.
Newbies, R&C and DeGaul - Finally it seems like something is happening at last. I keep thinking that I am geting excited by the weirdest things LOL:-)
H2B& K&T - We have applied for a dispensation to be 6.38m set back instead of 7.5m. Wanted less but we have no hope so the front yard will be bigger than the back yard!
Yes, really happy with the 3k!!!!!!!

Great news, congratulations on land settlement. Major step towards achieving a brand new house. Now you can expect timely site start.

Hope you get the dispensation. Didn't realise that the setback had to be that much. Ours was 6.5m and I feel that's enough. Looks nice from the street though when houses are set back that little bit further.

Yep $3k will definitely come in handy.......curtains, blinds etc etc or maybe a new couch!

Good luck with getting your dispensation, it sounds reasonable so hopefully things go your way. I do like a big front setback though, our previous one was 12m, now it will only be 5.5m. If I had of pushed it back any further...we would have had NO backyard, so something has to give!

Woo hoo! congrats!! It always seems like it takes forever with all the appointments, contract signing, blah blah...build us the house already! I'm eager to see photos when construction starts!

Hey are you still going with Austral's Nougat bricks? We've chose the same bricks for our home, but with natural mortar. We're keeping our fingers crossed it will look good.

Thnaks G&A, had a bit of a let down yesterday to find out that we might not start until after Christmas despite a "booking" November start and bringing land settlement forward so feelinga bit down.
Yes, we are having nougat bricks. Austral are having production probs and do not know when they will be back. Hope they get it sorted soon. They were the only bricks we agreed on!
Cheers

Oh sorry to hear about the late start! But it may seem like a long way away, but Christmas will come before you know it, so hang in there!

Good news is, I rang up Austral bricks yesterday to find out what the deal is with the Nougat bricks. The lady said they did halt production sometime back, but it's back in the market again and have them in stock. YAY!

Oh no! Why have PD dishonoured your November site start!!! That's terrible for you - :-((, I know how keen you are to get started!
On the bright side ( if you can see one! ), if they didn't start until late Nov., then upped tools for a big whack of Dec./Jan., starting late Jan. might see you not a lot further behind than you would have been anyway. Probably not much consolation to you right now!

Hi K,
here is the sorry story..
We have to have a dispensation. PD told us they would apply for it when we signed tender as it can take some time. They didn't.
I found this out speaking to the council who do not have an application at all.
Upshot is they have stuffed around (after all their time is MY money!)and it will "probably" go in next Monday. Despite 24/7 saying that it was ordered on 10/10/08.
I have everything I own crossed that it gets through council quickly so we can get a start in December.
I am just so peeved because we brought settlement forward on the understanding that PD had done their part and I feel misled. It looks like we will have to manage two mortgages for an extra two months now with the delayed start. Not happy!!

Oh Joanne..that is sh*T!!! Incompetance of the highest order. If they could be bothered entering the details on 24/7, why not just bloody follow through and do what they said they would do!!! Grrr, sorry, mad for you!! And then there's the extra $$$ incurred...super MAD for you! I'll cross a few things around here for you for a Dec. start!
