It's all happening...or not...

As the title suggests, there has been lots happening or not as in the case of the retaining walls.

Site scrape was finished on the 10th and retaining walls were set to go on the 15, 16, 17. As those of you in Melbourne will know, we had a few buckets of rain on the weekend which led to our new pool below. This is the side of the cut:

Just to give you an idea of the depth:

so obviously, no retaining walls. Although Monday night we saw they had dug a trench from the side across the front and down the driveway so that it could drain.

Then on Tuesday - Our MOST EXCITING EVENT SO FAR - THE PORTALOO!

Wednesday - no appearance your worship!. Getting worried at this stage that the rest might had to be delayed because of no retaining walls, then yesterday we had some pegs.

Today (Friday) We have a meter box and pipes!! yes, all done and ready and waiting for the slab on the 5th. I hope this means that they can do the slab without having the retaining walls done. Has this happened to anyone else????

I am uploading these as "large" images so I hope everyone can see them. If anyone knows how I upload them so that they are larger when you click on them, please let me know! Never too old to learn things I say.

As I believe that there will be no more work done until after Christmas, I would like to say

Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year
to all my readers and contributors!!

oh yes nice pool.....can't believe the weather we have had this week, rain and cold it's been like winter again.

As for the photos, I upload mine as large and can still click on them to enlarge further. Sorry no help to you!

Congrats on the pipes and loo! Huge milestone and great to see.

The 5th will be here before you know it.

Merry Christmas to you too and your family. Enjoy it and think next Christmas you'll be opening presents in your new Illoura :-)

Joanne, how exciting! A brand new portaloo for Christmas. Glad to see that it is still exciting for you 3rd time around.
No slab, but perhaps a Christmas picnic for you all on your newly excavated site? Followed by a dip in your very big pool! ;-)
Merry Christmas to you and your family...and here's hoping for lots of productivity on your new Illoura early in the New Year.

Oh, how good is it seeing that loo. And then pegs soon after. It is SO exciting getting your build underway. Please keep sharing these early phases with us.

If we weren't all building, which one of us would get so excited over a sh*t-box on our land?
But because we ARE all building ... the arrival of the porta-loo is the most significant event.

Nothing else on our vacant piece of dirt is quite as significant, because without this amazing piece of "pooh" technology, there would be no construction.

This is THE sign!
When the porta-loo arrives, the tradies immediately come in droves. Makes you want to bow down and salute it. Which one of us hasn't taken heaps of photos of the porta-loo arrival? I know I did, from every angle.

Sorry Joanne ... had to share my memory of our porta-loo arrival with you. It was the best thing I saw since the "SOLD" sign on our land.

This is the most exciting time for you. It's full steam ahead now. Your pool will soon become slab, frame and bricks. No time for blinking, or you'll miss it.

I'm so excited for you and really looking forward to your updates. What a great end to 2008 and a full-blown start to 2009.

Merry Xmas and a very HAPPY new year build to you!

Cheers and best wishes!
Liana

Hi J,

Congrats on the portaloo and pipes :)

For your image problem, I noticed that those pictures that you uploaded earlier (tap picture, jumping girl, money tree) that appeared on top of your post are clickable, while those newest ones aren't because they are not on top of the post.

It might have something to do with when you move your pictures so they don't appear on top of the page/post (because normally it automatically goes to the top page).

The easiest way to do is before you type your post, you upload your images first, then type your blog on top of those images or in between (however you want to arrange the writing).

The second way involve html skill.
You should go to "Edit Html" mode to move your images.
The html code for an image should start with an &lta" and end with an /a&gt.
For example:

&lta
blabla href:"http://blablabla"
/a&gt

So you should copy that line to wherever you want to move it to.

Hopefully this help and solve your problem, and not too confusing cuz am really bad in explaining stuff ><

note:

&lt is equal to "<" symbol
and &gt is equal to ">" symbol since I cant type html code here (it gave me error msg)

in this case I cant type "<" symbol next to "a" letter

Did you get that J? I'm confused....... hehe

Really T? ><

I just tested on my own blog, I can just click on the uploaded image and cut & paste it to the position that I wanted to and it is still clickable.

You've lost me too, Lexriel.
Sorry Joanne, I can't help you there because most of mine are slideshows in Picasa.
Toni, how do you create the click-through from your images on the blog so that they appear in a new window, enlarged?

Thanks everyone for the happy comments. It makes it seem much more exciting and enjoyable to be sharing the hourney with like minded souls and friends.

M&J, I hope you too soon know the joys of having a portaloo! I could not count the number of portaloo photos I drooled over dreaming of one of my own. LOL

Hey T and David, can't believe you guys took time from enjoying your wonderful new homes to have a peak at mine! Although portaloo's are very special!

Hi Kristen, I think it's like childbirth, you forget the pain over time! yes, it is exciting third time around. More so this time because we are more involved and educated about the process.

LOL Liana, yes you cut straight to the heart of the matter. It is a Sh*tbox, funny I never thought of it in those terms. And, I admit, I thought the world was a brighter place with my portaloo in it.

Thanks Lex, did not even think of checking the HTML,which just proves you loose brain cells when building a house! Will check it out and see how I go. Any movement at your place?

Hope next year sees us all happy in our new homes for Christmas!!!

It's nearly January! Not long now!

Hope you have a Happy New Iloura Year :-)
