It's Official we're locked up!

Hey all, like the new look?? Since we are now moving into the interior, which will be painted "divinity" eventually, I thought should start with redecorating the blog (LOL)

Well, today the missing weatherboard (at least that's what I think it is) over the garage was installed. It was the final thing we were waiting on to complete the lock up stage. So today off to the bank to get a hefty transfer over to PD's account. Can I just say OUCH!!! I really hope that we get handover before 11 August, the interest bill just got a swift kick!.
The garage in all it's glory..
The fixing started today. My sidelight has been installed, quite a lot of architrave has been cut and left in rooms waiting to be put up. A few windows have already been trimmed. From the inside..

And from the outside. Sorry for the poor photo quality. I had to take these myself. DH was otherwise engaged.

The bath has been installed on a bed of bricks and the stuff that they make the shower bases out of has been used as a bed on top of the bricks.

This is the spa install. You can see they have used about half a pallet of bricks, they go right the way across the spa to the back wall and the entire length of it as well. Again a bed of the shower base stuff ( like my technical talk???)

Downpipes have been installed and the drainage has been moved. Now DH can stop stressing that there is a storm water pipe in the middle of the driveway!
It looks like the next BSS inspection has also happened as there are marks on the walls everywhere. You'd think that a really tall three year old had gone mad with a pencil in there.
I'm not sure whether to be concerned or not. Our SS has seemed to be on the ball with everything so far and has attended to most of our issues so we'll give it a while and see what he says.
Can't wait to see the doors hung!

Ouch! I bet that Lock-up payment hurt!!!
How are things going with selling your current home? Still really can't see how this is going to take until August 11th.
The sidelight looks lovely....as does the new look blog.
Hope they sort out the inspection issues for you soon.
Looking forward to your next update,
K.

hehe yep love your technical terms. We all sound the same - lol.

It's a bit depressing watching the bank balance decrease isn't it? At least you'll have a lovely new Illoura to show for it!

Hmmmm, everytime I look at a bath or spa sitting on bricks I wonder if that really is the way it should be done? I suppose bricks are better than empty softdrink cans!

Sidelight looks great. Let the BSS guy scribble where ever he wants to, it's great that he is picking up on so much stuff.

I agree with K, surely you'll be in June/July? Usually it's 6 weeks from painting. Our painting started on 30th Oct and handover was 19th Dec. Painting took just over a week.

Yep love the new look blog too! It's nice and light :-)

Hey J,

Aawww, baths!!! And a garage!! You've gotta be winning the race now. We've got architraves and doors, but no baths or garage roof..

All I can say about the big bill is 'thank God for the economic crisis'. I'm sorry, but the interest rates at the moment are Heaven aren't they??! That's gotta take a bit of pain out of it.

You and I could possibly share the same SS 'cos both jobs seem to be running smoothly and in good time (touch wood). I think you will be happily settled in way before August 11.

PS - Love the new look blog!

Oooh... it's all coming together now! Congrats on lock-up and ouch at the payment lol.
One of the most exciting things is watching the kitchen and vanities go in, which won't be long now.
Is your house on the market yet?

Congrats on lock-up!!! Not so much for the bill tho hehe. We just got stung with our framing invoice too. I'm still whincing at the figure ;)

Agree with Toni that its great the BSS is picking up lots of issues and not just running a cursory glance over things.

Very nice sidelights too. Looking forward to seeing the finished product soon!

WOOO Congrats on Lockup! We all share the same pain when a stage is completed! It's good we're moving forward, but no good in the pockets.

Great to hear you've made it to lockup. Our lockup payment was paid on monday. They only sent us the invoice late last week but we'd been expecting it for a good 2 weeks. Love the nice solid bath bases. Ours looks like it was made completely from the concrete they use in shower bases. At least yours is not likely to shift about.

Sidelight looks beautiful

Congrats guys, offically locked up. You are now into the detail stage where things slowly come together. Gee, how do you feel?. Noticed you have got a lovely bath, we are still waiting for ours, LOL.

Hey J,

Congrats on lockup! I can't imagine completion taking that long. August!??! Here's hoping it's much sooner for you (and your bank account).

At least your bath is sitting on a decent "slab" of bricks and it's not above a theatre room with electrical cabling under it (and empty coke cans). I'm just waiting for the day I take my first bath. Reclining back in my sudded-up express elevator with a projector, a set of speakers, a sh*tload of bricks and a fireworks display to die for!

Cheers
