The waste pipe was moved in the powder room, so I assume they can come back now and fit that cabinet. Bath has been delivered and installed. Doors and architraves have been delivered. Shower bases formed in ensuite and bathroom. Looks like the spa does not fit in the cradle through, oops.
Now for the pics!
This is the formal lounge room, they have cut out for the fireplace now, if you look closely you can see the cornice.
The bi folds are in and look sensational. This is the view from the kitchen looking towards the alfresco area and dining room.
Bath arrived and was installed in the bathroom...
Deliveries this week, firstly a heap of architrave timber...
Our gorgeous front door, with a side light. We like a fairly classic sort of look, so we chose these from the Corinthian catalogue. We're both also fairly individual so it suits us to have what no one else is having.
And all our internal doors. We LOVE the classic look of these doors, they are 2.5m high as DH is quite tall. Our mirrored sliding robe doors are supposed to be there too. We can see the frames but not sure if the mirrors are there. We'll have to wait until they are installed. You can just see the sidelight peeking out the back.
Now, at K's special request, the spa and ensuite layout. We were a bit concerned about this because PD did not have it on display and did not have one being built at the time.
Firstly, the spa, decina duo...

The first post failed, so try again!
Hey J,
Those bifolds looks absolutely sensational, especially with the timber window frames.
You're in for a busy few weeks, now that the doors and architraves have been delivered. Are the internal doors "Balmoral"?
Keep your eye on the installation of the Decina Duo. This is a recurring problem with it not fitting properly in the spa frame. Dumb reason for sure, but PD
recently switched spa suppliers, but have not changed their spa frame design in order to fit this spa. The design is still for the previous spa, which was a different shape. Our Decina Duo took 3 months to install and about 10 attempts at getting the spa frame corrected.
I am pretty sure the iscolouration of your bricks is caused by vanadium stains. It is common with lighter shades of bricks and it seems to be occurring in the lower section of your brickwork, near the ground, allowing water and damp to seep into the bricks. That's one reason.
Copy and paste the link below into your browser for more info and raise it with your SS. It's no major concern and it's easily fixed.

Our bricks were a different shade, so we got efflorescence (a white, powdery discolouration). Guess the render sorted that out in a hurry!
Cheers

O-M-G to ur bi folds!!!! sooo jealous...they look fab!! :) if only we had the extra $$ i would have loved to have done that! *damn wedding* hehehehehe
The house is coming along really nicely! love the spa too! again...very jealous! :P
i cant wait for more updates...isnt it all very exciting!?!?! :D
Hi J,
Some great updates from you this week!
I agree with the other girls, bi folds look sensational! Did they withsatnd the brick cleaning??
Hehehe, how big are your internal doors???? They look huge against the entry door ( which will suit your facade and colours beautifully ).
Shucks, some photos just for me??? Thanks so much! Still can't quite figure out how they re-configured it...is the entrance to the ensuite now in a different position to where it is as standard, and is the loo in the spot where the shower went???
Hope they can fix those green bricks up for you soon.
August 11th??? Get out of town!
K.
Guys,
your place is really coming along, you'll be finished before we are. can we borrow your bath and sinks as ours haven't turned up as yet, lol. Your miles ahead with the bathroom fit outs as they ahven't even touched our shower areas yet. The cornice looks really goo, make sure you check for bows, we found quite a few when really looked. If you don't find any great. Love those bifolds and front door and its great to see they were installed after the acid wash.

Hi BB, nice spa you have there! Great seeing all the walls up... really start to get a feel for the final product. Those doors are very tall!!! DH doesn't have to stoop to get under them I hope! Hopefully the discolouration to the bricks isn't an issue to rectify.
Hi All,
Yes Liana, they are "Balmoral" doors.
The spa has now been installed (was done Friday) it is on about 27bricks at each end and they seem to have a bed of the grey stuff they use to make the shower bases on top and then the spa is on that. It looks very solid. I read your post on WBH's blog so it seems Ok and Yes they did some minor adjustments to the frame. They used the same technique with the bath.
The bricks are being treated and PD say they may need more than 1 treatment so just let them know when it appears?
Hey Newbies, yes it is exciting. When are you going to update ur blog, so we can see your kitchen!
Yes K, the doorway into the spa is what was the walkway between the WIR and Ensuite in Mernda. So the loo is where the shower was. Bi Folds appear to be OK at this stage. Thank God!
Hey R&C, I feel guilty that our build seems to be happening quite smoothly (have to be careful, don't want to jinx myself LOL) when you guys and Liana have had/having issues. I have already noticed some cornice/plaster that I am not too happy with, perhaps this will be my waterloo.
Thanks M&J, DH is 6'5". While he doesn't have to stoop to get through doors, with a standard ceiling he can put his hand flat on the roof. Having 2740 ceilings and taller doors makes him more comfortable and means I can have light fittings that don't need furniture under them!!! Otherwise he walks into the light fittings.
One of the major reasons for building is that we can do little things to make life more comfortable, like higher shower roses, taller benches, taller ceilings and doors etc.
Cheers

Absoultely beautiful bifold doors and cornices, guys! Now I wished we upgraded our cornices rather than just having plain ones ;)
It's coming along really well! Everything looks really good.
Our cabinets were installed today but we didn't have our camera with us. Might need to drive up there again tomorrow just to update the blog!
Everything looks great J. Agree the bi-folds look lovely. I love all things timber :-)
I'm a bit confused too over the ensuite layout.....is the door to the ensuite still opposite the WIR?
Nice to see all your selections coming into the house. Love all your doors, the internal ones look huge! We have Balmoral too, only to downstairs though and just the two panel. I really like them.
Sounds like things are going well for you which is great. Hope it continues for you :-)
Hi Althea, we got a selection of upgraded cornice to living areas as part of our promo. Bit disappointed that I did not upgrade the whole house now, as it looks gorgeous. Take the camera, I'm dying to see your cabinets in!!!!
Hi Toni, instead of a hall between the ensuite and the WIR. There is no hall. Just a wall between the ensuite and WIR and both of them have entrances next to each other from the bedroom. LOL, hope that makes sense. LOVE the balmoral doors and they aren't even hung or painted yet LOL
Cheers

Hey J,
Great updates this time!!! I always love see some interior pics :D
Nice bi-fold! So you have a door that can be opened without opening the bi-fold!
Did PD install the bi-fold after lockup stage (at fixing stage)?
Ouch for the bricks. Hopefully they are fixed soon!
Love the spa!!! We didn't get it because don't think we would use it :(
Looking forward to more pics!!!!
Oh..I forgot to comment about your front door... Never see that kind of door before!!! Didn't even know you have that option! (never pay attention to the catalog :P. It look really classic!
aaarrhhh.....got it. Yes makes sense to me now :-) Thanks
Hi Lexriel,
We go tthe spa because they are bigger sizes than baths. We can get a 1900 spa but not in a bath. We will use it as a bath when DH needs a soak after Taekwondo!
Bi Folds went in at lock up stage. Front door, we're not really into the modern look with colonial bars so we went for something a bit more "classic" (Old) LOL
What's happening at your place????
Cheers
J
Nothing is happening :( except for a broken window!
