HOT? ... DAMN HOT!!

How hot???? DAMN HOT!!!! Wow, was it hot this week or what? We expected very little work this week because Tuesday was an RDO for the building industry and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday it was around 45 degrees out at the house. However, we must have super chippies who are able to withstand immense heat as most of our roof frame is now on and the alfresco has also been framed.

On Wednesday they had the alfresco frame up..

And the back of the house had the start of the roof frame as well.

After seeing that they had been working on Wednesday, I dropped out there on Thursday about lunch time with some coldies but they had already gone.

This is the front of the house, almost all the roofing done.
Alfresco has the start of it's roof done.

The house from the side showing how far the roofing has been done.I went out again on Friday about 11.30 with the beer again, but nothing further had been done, so I assumed that they must have melted on Thursday. I got a call from our SS and he told me that the chippies had decided it was too hot to work on Friday (???) and would finish the framing on Monday. He said we are a little behind because of the heat. I told him I was amazed that they had done anything at all!!!
Gutters are booked in for this week it seems and roofing to commence the week after that. So, it seems that things are certainly moving along at a cracking pace.

Definitely J, things are moving along at a cracking pace on your end. It is comendable how these people gathered the motivation to work under the scorching sun. Dont worry, at this pace your SS will catch up with the schedule very soon. And from the side elevation your house looks biiiig. Amazing

Firstly, BL**DY HOT, that's how hot! Surprised that anything got done at all!
Secondly, are you trying to make me jealous or what with the pace at which PD are buiding your house?? Nah, joke Joyce, really happy for you that all is going so well!
Thirdly, are you sure we are building the same house??? I have studied that side view photo and I can't work out where anything is, lol!! And is the garage not framed or something yet?? The Study and Bedroom 2 seem to be quite "forward" compared to the right hand side of the house.
Also, potential dumb question alert...what are those flat brown panel thingies here and there throughout the frame??
And finally, what a great view you have out the backyard....very pretty spot indeed!
Good luck with those gutters...hope next week is productive for you guys!

Hi WBH
I could not get motivated to move much less work. Yeah, it does look big, and I have to clean it, bugger! It looks bigger because it is taken from a distance I think and it takes up most of the block.

Hi K, Jealous??? I am bl@@dy amazed at the pace after reading some other blogs. I don't want to say something in case I say something and it stops LOL!
To answer:
1 The side view is the bedrooms, they have not finished framing under the windows. It seems they don't do that bit until the windows are ready to go in and that is the last things they do(why? don't know, suppose to stop them getting broken while they are working???)
2 No, the garage is not framed yet. They do that when they are ready to do the garage roof because it is on the land boundary and the portaloo is in the way a bit (god, what a smell in this weather!!!)
3 We pushed the study out the front by a metre, so it is a metre forward of bed 2. Means our front facade will look different to every other illoura in existence.
4 Flat brown panels are extra bracing on the frame, where they can't use those bits of metal that you see on the bigger walls.
5 LOL our backyard is going to be 6.27 metres, but it is so quiet there it's incredible!

BTW, I think you should get the email address from M&J and put a rocket up your CSC!! On a positive note, once we got to construction, our SS has been right on the ball. Hopefully, you'll have the same experience!

Cheers J

Wow BB, you do have great chippies. The house two down from us also got framed this week - the whole 42sq top and bottom - finished! I was amazed and did wonder if others were working elsewhere.

Very excited for you guys. Hope the work continues this week, although it's not going to be out of control like last week it's still going to be hot (anything over 25 is hot for me :-) )

Hi T,
Yes, I love the cold! You can always get warm but never seem to get cool. My thoughts were that it can be a very hard way top make a living. Not that I would want to.

Hey R&C, I took the coldies home to my DH, who definitely appreciated them!

I am so feeling for you Lexriel, you never know, you may end up in before me!!

Hi Belle. Sounds like you have had plenty of beer left over for yourself..!!
Tip. if you want to catch the tradies on a hot day, suggest you get out there by 11am latest..!! Been watching them around our house, and they are gone by lunch.
Haven't seen your blog for a few weeks , but your house is really starting to look like .... a house. When you expect completion?

Wow!! I am so excited that someone loves the French look. Please don't stop the posts once building stops as I would love to see the interior deco and get inspired.

Good-luck with it all. Our building slowed down because of the heat also (now that I am used to this fast pace, it kind of made me impatient.)

All good and looking good. Have fun

Hi David, hope you and Suzi managed to keep cool in your stunning cremorme! Yes it is coming along pretty well. The contract completion is mid August, but hoping for before then.

Hi Christina, yeah I do like that look. Hence the silver bricks and dark roof. We'll see what I end up doing inside. I'm looking at a murano chandelier for the lounge. Not sure I will be able to afford it with the dollar dropping.

Cheers

Good on ur chippies for working in that heat! The house does look very big. You've got over 2/3rds of our Brookvale in one floor! So whatever happened to the slabs of beer? hehehe

Hey M&J, are you over the excitement of the port-a-loo yet? Takes a while for the heart pounding to subside! My DH who is a very caring man, could not let them go to waste, so to help me out, he drank them. Very thoughtful indeed!
The house is 40sq by the time we added our bits and pieces, so it is pretty big for a single storey.
Good luck for the slab on the 5th. Looking forward to lots of pics!
Cheers
